Demands on future forest and wood use

What's it about?

Forests are subject to ongoing processes of change, which are accelerating due to climate change. Additionally, societal demands on forests and wood are also shifting, making discussions and prioritizations more necessary than ever. For instance, if the resource wood is to be established in the construction sector, but at the same time ecological expectations call for keeping wood in the forest, such potential conflicts become apparent. The fragmentation of the research sectors mirrors these societal conflicts and can also be reconstructed within the REGULUS landscape. A differentiated approach to forests and wood does not overlook these challenges but integrates them into the research process. Therefore, the cross-cutting theme 'Demands on Future Forest and Wood Use' provides space for a constructive engagement with these goal conflicts.
