ABOUT REGULUS

Cooperation in forest and wood research

What is REGULUS?

REGULUS is the name of a research project.

The project investigates how forests and the use of wood can help the climate. Many researchers are working together to achieve this. There are ten regional REGULUS innovation groups in Germany. They come from different regions in Germany. They share their knowledge and work together to find solutions.

REGULUS has several goals

  • To improve the networking of research on forests and wood.
  • To develop new ideas for the environmentally friendly use of forests and wood.
  • The results of the research should be passed on to the public.

The regional research groups

There are ten REGULUS regional research groups in Germany.

They work on solutions for the sustainable use of forests and wood.

For example, they are researching

  • How to adapt forests to the changing climate.
  • How to make sensible use of old wood stocks.
  • How digital tools can be used to better understand forests.

The REGULUS network

Zehn Forschungsgruppen arbeiten im REGULUS-Verbund. Eine Projektgruppe mit dem Namen WaHo_boost hilft ihnen dabei in Kontakt und Austausch zu kommen.

The goals are:

  • Eine sinnvolle Zusammenarbeit der Gruppen, damit die Forschung gut voran kommt.
  • Wichtige Ergebnisse sammeln und im REGULUS-Verbund zugänglich machen.
  • Make the results understandable for important people and the public.

This is particularly important:

  • Research on forests and wood
  • Exchange between science and practice

REGULUS is supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The project is part of the “Research for Sustainability” (FONA) strategy.
